The collapse of the global economy has laid bare some of the most unwholesome features of capitalism. In particular, it has revealed the lengths to which the financial sector (be it bankers, brokers or lenders) are willing to go to accumulate massive, and ultimately unsustainable, levels of profit. In this series of pictures, taken in the City of London, I have attempted to use darkness as a metaphor for greed, dishonesty and the seductiveness of wealth. The shadows are pervasive, embracing some; smothering and blindfolding others. Meanwhile, the City buildings portray a long-established façade of legitimacy and accountability, contrasting with the murky and secretive mood of the pictures.
