Living in the Third Age
Cynthia has lived for 90 years in the same house, in the outer London Borough of Brent. The area has a rising crime rate and she has been burgled 5 times in the space of three months, but she still refuses to move away or into sheltered accommodation. Whereas most elderly pensioners in Britain have help of some description, Cynth is fully independent, cooking all her own meals, focusing heavily on the traditional pork chop, boiled potatoes and Savoy cabbage, and only asking for her nephew or neighbour to bring her a bag of potatoes once in a while. This work is a study of her remarkable life in her Third Age.
